About: Under 49 CFR § 172.704, new hazardous materials employees are required to go through initial training within 90 days of employment and recurrent training every three years thereafter. This training covers all mandatory subjects, including general awareness, function specific training, safety training and security awareness. Attendees will be given a 25 question test for which an 80% or better grade will indicate successful completion of the course. Attendees scoring an 80% or better will get a certificate of completion. If a student does not pass the test, they will get a certificate of attendance. Space is limited to 20 attendees.

A DQ file contains essential documentation and information to provide a comprehensive snapshot of driver applicants and employees. The file must contain mandated items such as pre-employment screening, a road test if required, a medical examiner’s card, and other documents. Files are required to regularly updated and records maintained to remain in compliance with the FMCSA regulations. Retention times vary for each document.
