Truck Parking Enforcement & Expansion.
July 29, 2025
Last month MMTA pushed out notification that the Maryland State Highway Administration has advised the Association that, due to a large increase in the number of complaints from local jurisdictions and communities, the agency will be expanding installation of “No Truck Parking” signs and working with law enforcement to increase enforcement of trucks illegally parked on state roads. While truck parking continues to be an ongoing challenge, recent announcements of expansion are encouraging.
- The Prince George’s County Revenue Authority has identified two potential sites to transform up to five acres of a portion of an existing commuter parking lot into a commercial vehicle parking lot. The sites being considered are at 13701 Laurel - Bowie Rd, Laurel, MD and 4400 Collington Road, Bowie, MD.
- Freight Ninja recently opened a truck parking lot in Baltimore at 3501 E. Biddle Street. Currently there are 83 spots available, with plans to expand to 500. The facility does not serve daily or weekly customers. Only monthly subscriptions are available; however, MMTA members can get a $25 discount on the monthly fee by using code MMTA25. https://www.freightninja.com/parking-locations/baltimore-md/.
- Truck Parking Club (https://truckparkingclub.com/) recently expanded into Maryland and now has more than a dozen locations across the state, which include daily, weekly and monthly alternatives.
