Maryland’s “Move Over” Law
December 14, 2021
A recent study from AAA showed that nearly one quarter of motorists are unaware of “move over” laws. All 50 states have these laws, which direct drivers to move over one lane or slow down when they see emergency vehicles with flashing lights stopped on the side of the road. In Maryland, the state’s law is even more broad, applying to vehicles with flashing lights if they are tow trucks, trash or recycling trucks, service vehicles, or commercial motor vehicles providing roadside repairs. Please remind your drivers.
